The Metis Settlements of Alberta are the only land-based Metis group in Canada. Which means we control our destiny when it comes to development.


On settlement we have oil and gas, forestry, excavation, eco-tourism, cultural tourism, an entrepreneurial sprit and the willingness and means to capitalize on new opportunities that benefit our membership and partners. We are looking for ways to expand our economic horizons through partnership while also making it sustainable for generations to come. 


The eight settlements are made up of 528,000 hectares of land.


The Metis Settlements General Council (MSGC) is the political and administrative body for the collective interests of the Metis Settlements. The MSGC is a pro-active government that helps develop, implement, and distribute programs and services to the eight Metis Settlements.
